clap!

Bonds of love crisscrossed Increase Miller Elementary’s cafeteria this morning. The room was packed with parents and other important people, all gathered to enjoy the first grade Gratitude Concert, created by music teachers April Higgins and Luis Vazquez.

The concert featured five songs, and a lot more.

As the students sang about friends, in “Share the Good Gifts,” they clasped hands. They performed “Thanks a Alot” in song and in sign language. And of course they boogied to “The Turkey Woogie”!

Interspersed between songs, two students from each class came to the mic to share a gratitude they’d written.

"I am thankful for my brother because he is funny."

"I am thankful for my teachers because they help me learn new things."

"I am thankful for pickles because they are so juicy and crunchy."

"I am thankful for the earth because it is so beautiful."

"I am thankful for pencils because they help me write."

I" am thankful for Increase Miller because it feels like home."

Thank YOU, first graders, and teachers!
